In today's rapidly changing world, there is intense demand for graduates who understand other cultures and can communicate in more languages than their own. Students who major in languages know that a new language is an open door into very different ways of living and understanding the world. Knowing Spanish, in particular, is a proven workplace advantage and a skill leading to higher salaries.
Two majors: Spanish for the professions and Spanish language and literature
Connect to the global community and perfect your Spanish skills in a dual-immersion language exchange: face to face online with native speakers in Mexico, South America and Europe. Get involved in Milwaukee's Hispanic community through service learning. Prepare to use Spanish in health- and business-related careers through the Spanish for the professions program.
Live it.
Put your skills to use through our study abroad programs, including our one-semester or yearlong Madrid program and our summer programs in Madrid or Santiago de Chile.
Small classes.
For a better understanding and proficiency in your Spanish major, we limit class sizes to encourage greater student participation.
