Alumni, industry invited to attend Design Day 2018
The Opus College of Engineering will host its fourth annual Design Day, a celebration of design and innovation in the college, on Friday, May 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Engineering Hall.
Design Day showcases the variety of year-round design activities that allow students to put their knowledge and skills into action to solve real-world problems. On display will be senior, freshman, student-led and course-related design projects. A variety of industry partners will also be in attendance to provide keynote presentations, interact with attendees and share information about their organizations.
All alumni and industry partners are invited to attend. If your organization would like to participate in Design Day, please review our sponsorship opportunities and express interest by Monday, April 2, for premium sponsorship or Monday, April 9, for all other sponsorship packages.

Marquette Engineers on spring break restore woman’s faith in humanity: Three Opus College of Engineering students, Matthew Messina, Justin Prom and Ryan Serfas, helped a woman on the trail in the Great Smoky Mountains by sitting with her when the hike became too difficult and giving her water. More on the spring break good Samaritans from WISN-TV (ABC 12).
• Dean Ropella serves on panel for first STEaM Summit for Girls: Dean Ropella and other Milwaukee-area female leaders came together at the Milwaukee Business Journal’s STEaM Summit for Girls to show young girls that they, too, can be successful in STEaM Fields. More on the inspiring event from WISN-TV (ABC 12).
• Developing a smart mouth guard: Dr. Brian Stemper, associate professor of biomedical engineering, discussed a smart mouth guard that can monitor concussions. “It’s opened up the ability to measure head impact exposure in sports other than football,” he said. More from Wired.

Registration now open for summer Engineering Leadership Academies
The Opus College of Engineering invites rising high school juniors and seniors to join us this summer for our pre-college residential programs. This summer, residential programs include:
• Hands on Engineering Experiences for Leaders of STEM Academy (HEELS): Monday, June 18, through Friday, June 22 (women only)
• Engineering Leadership Academy (ELA): Monday, June 25, through Friday, June 29 (co-ed)
