Cengage Mindtap
Cengage Mindtap is a mini-learning management system that provides access to Cengage (publisher) course content, including: digital text, interactive multimedia, assignments, quizzes, as well as tools for instructors to use to analyze students' data and support students.
Using MindTap
Adding Course Content to D2L
When selecting a ‘Main Folder’ in Add Existing Activity tab, all subfolders will not automatically be selected. User will have to open all subfolders and select materials that they would like to be included in Content. Only Content that is ‘Visible’ in the Cengage environment can be added to D2L content through the Add Existing Activities dropdown
Another option is to keep the item visible in Cengage but use the available dates to limit when students may first access the item
Gradebook
Manage gradebook settings in D2L only, as settings in Cengage do not carry over to D2L during grade sync.
- Ex: If a gradebook item is dropped within the Cengage gradebook, that item will not drop from the D2L gradebook.
- If an activity is missed at the due date, a 0 will be applied in Cengage and sync over to D2L.
- Course end date - will score all ungraded items as a 0 by default which will sync over to D2L.
My Notes
Note taking assistant which requires student to create a My Notes account and log in – 3rd party product.
