Report Details
Overview
Purpose
This report delivers a detailed list of degrees granted by Marquette University for selected terms. Each degree granted is a separate row, so students who have received more than one degree (i.e., Masters and Ph.D) in the same term will be listed once for each degree.
?
For students to appear on the report, they must appear in Checkmarq with an awarded degree record.

Potential Uses
?
DescriptionPage Tabs
At the top of the report are page tabs to different section of the report. The first tab - Degrees Granted- focuses on the details for each student. The second tab - Summary - contains a graphic with counts by various degree information.
?
Filters
Below the page tabs are the groups of filters. These allow users to slice and dice the report to find exactly what they need. Most filters are cascading, meaning if you select UARSC as a program you will only get information in the other filters related to students in UARSC. Filters will also transition across report pages if set.
?
Table
The main section of each page is a table of student detail. These tables can be sorted by any field and the data can be exported (instructions below). Note that the tables may scroll off the screen both horizontally and vertically so it may be necessary to use the scroll bars to see all the detail.
?
Exporting Data
Data can be exported to Excel from any table in the report. There are elipses at the top right corner of each table that allow for 'More Options'. One of those options is to export data and it will automatically push the data to Excel in a csv format.
?
Access DetailAccess to the report is determined by the OTR. It is generally used by college academic staff and other student services staff.Report Glossary
Degree
An award conferred by a college, university, or other postsecondary education institution as official recognition for the successful completion of a program of studies.
FERPA Block
A block that allows students to restrict the release of some or all of their education records based on the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA).
Blocks for email, addresses, and telephone numbers can be added (and removed) by an individual student via CheckMarq. Complete FERPA blocks (which also restrict the release of the student's name) must be added or removed by the student in person with a member of the Office of the Registrar (OTR) staff. All FERPA blocks are maintained on the student's record by the OTR until the student releases the block.
The presence of a FERPA block indicates that whatever piece of information is blocked (email, address, name, etc.) is not releasable to outside parties.
Marquette's FERPA policy can be found here.
Home Address
This address type reflects a student's home address. This address is initially pulled from the student's admissions application but can be modified by the student via the CheckMarq Student Center.
In the majority of cases, the student has entered an address with an address type labeled "HOME", which is one of several types of addresses that can be entered. In the cases where the student has no "HOME" address entered, a secondary address is selected as the home address by using the following ranking:
1. Home (HOME)
2. Dorm (DORM)
3. Campus (CAMP)
4. International mailing (IMAI)
Students are asked to review and update their addresses in CheckMarq at the start of each term and have access to do so at any time during the term as well. The dorm address type is assigned by the Office of Residence Life and cannot be changed by the student.
Honors Student
A student who is active in the honors program.
The University Honors Program offers an intense, individualized and experiential education. The University Honors Program offers two ways to participate in Honors: Core Honors, in which students follow an Honors version of the Marquette Core Curriculum throughout their undergraduate career; and Disciplinary Honors, in which students do Honors work in their majors. Students may participate in either program or both. Core Honors is open only to incoming first-year students who are eligible to apply after being accepted to Marquette; students apply to Disciplinary Honors programs in their sophomore year.
Click here for more information about the honors program.
MUID
A unique institution-assigned identifier for the use of the institution to cross reference individual students, faculty, and staff.
When students apply for admission and when faculty and staff are employed, the university assigns each person a nine-digit Marquette ID number.
Primary Major
A students' first declared field of study.
Some examples of primary majors include Accounting, Biomedical Sciences, and Psychology.
For a full list of majors and programs go to:
Undergraduate students may have up to 4 total majors. Any additional majors a student declares after their primary major is considered a secondary major.
For the registration report, this is the students major as of the beginning of the registration term.
Program
A designation that typically indicates the career and college or school of a student's academic plan.
Student Department
Categorization of a students' primary major or program (graduate) based on the specific field of study.
Some examples of departments include Accounting, Biomedical Sciences, and Strategic Communication.
Student Groups
Characteristics of interest that are associated with a student. This could include:
These groups are maintained by various departments across Marquette's campus. Students may be in multiple student groups. A student's membership in a particular group is added and removed by group owners at various times during the academic year. Some student groups are attached to a student for their entire Marquette career while others can be added or removed on a term-by-term basis.
For term-based reports, students are considered in a group if they are marked as in the group as of the report's date. If the term has yet to officially begin, they are considered in the group if they would be in the group at the beginning of the term. If the term has ended, they are considered members if they were in the group at the end of the term.
Sub-Plan
A broad term used to define a specific area of focus within a given program and degree intended to provide students with a more specialized focus of study.
Sub-plans are defined differently depending on career.
