2024 AI Ethics Symposium: From Policy to Practice

AI Ethics Symposium: From Policy to Practice

The Northwestern Mutual Data Science Institute, in partnership with the Center for Data, Ethics, and Society at Marquette University, will host an AI ethics symposium to continue the national dialogue around the ethical concerns of artificial intelligence.

Join us Thursday, November 21, 8am - 6pm CST. The symposium is free and open to the public, but registration is required.

Attendees will gain insights from a diverse array of experts through curated panel discussions and engage in moderated, thematically oriented conversations on AI ethics over lunch with their peers and speakers. We will have two keynote addresses from Dr. Alondra Nelson, former deputy assistant to President Joe Biden and director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, as well as Dr. Casey Fiesler, associate professor of information science at the University of Colorado Boulder. Attendees will also have several opportunities to network throughout the day.

A full agenda with additional speakers and sessions is coming soon!

Started by Dr. Thomas Kaczmarek in 2016, the Marquette Ethics of Big Data Symposium has been a leader in bringing together leading scholars, practiioners, and advocates who focus on these critical issues.

Now organized by the Center for Data, Ethics, and Society, the annual symposium continues to be a space for diverse and provocative conversations to help ensure the ethical use of big data for the benefit of individuals and society as a whole.
