Secretary Chao calls on graduates to serve
As the first Asian-American woman to be appointed to a presidential cabinet,
U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao called on graduates to serve during her
address at Marquette's commencement ceremony on May 21.

Distinguished actor Cotter Smith, who plays Al McGuire in Dick
Enberg's play, "McGuire," recently talked to Anne Broeker,
Comm '96, about his role as the legendary Marquette basketball
coach.
"McGuire" just completed its second run at Marquette's Helfaer
Theatre.

- Neumann receives second Fulbright Senior Specialist Grant
Dr. Donald A. Neumann, professor of physical therapy, has received a Fulbright Senior
Specialist Grant to travel to Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary. Read more

This fall, the College of Professional Studies will launch a master’s degree in
dispute resolution that will focus on mediation, arbitration, facilitation and public policy

Working Together
Dr. Sarah Bonewits Feldner, assistant professor of communication studies,
and Dr. Michael J. Monahan, assistant professor of philosophy, have been
awarded a Way Klingler Interdisciplinary Teaching Award. Through this
$20,000 grant, Drs. Feldner and Monahan will develop an undergraduate
seminar that will provide a more in-depth understanding of community and
identity in order to explore methods of addressing urban problems such as
violence.
