Lifetime Achievement Award
Donald A. Levy, Law '60
Admiration for Abraham Lincoln and conversations with an old-time lawyer a quarter-mile down the road from his home in Mequon, Wis., convinced a young Donald Levy that he should be a lawyer. A commitment to hard work, perseverance and personal attention to all his clients made him an outstanding lawyer.
Don, who first established Cedarburg, Wis.-based Levy & Levy, S.C., 50 years ago, is one of Wisconsin's leading family law attorneys. He also has extensive practice in real estate and business law, additional areas that allow him to pursue his passion for helping people solve their problems.
Don has been listed in America's Best Lawyers every year since 1987, has been honored by Milwaukee Magazine as one the area's best family lawyers, and has lectured on family law topics before the state and local bar associations. He is a fellow and past president of the Wisconsin Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and a member of the Leander J. Foley, Jr., Matrimonial Inn, American Inns of Court, as an emeritus master.
Beyond his career, Donald has a long history of giving back to the community and organizations that helped him succeed.
"I have to think that but for Marquette," he says, "I would still be on the farm milking cows."
Donald is a founding member of the Cedarburg-Grafton Rotary Club and Cedarburg Landmark Preservation Society, serves on the boards of the Cedarburg Performing Arts Center and Columbia St. Mary's Foundation, and chaired the campaign to restore the Rivoli Theater in Cedarburg. He has been on the Marquette University Alumni Board and Dean's Advisory Board for the Law School.
