You’ll begin your physician assistant education as a biomedical sciences major and, if accepted into the accelerated degree program, you’ll get both your bachelor’s plus a master’s in physician assistant studies in as few as five years. As an undergraduate, you’ll go deep into biomedical sciences, as well as clinical medicine, emergency medicine and surgery, as you prepare for a career in practicing medicine and treating patients.
At Marquette, our values-based education will equip you with the skills you need to offer excellent care to patients — and to lead as a caring professional. Here, you’ll learn in the heart of the city, while preparing to work in both metropolitan and rural areas. And since we have teaching affiliations with all the major health care systems in the metro Milwaukee area, you’ll have access to a broad range of clinical internship options.
Physician Assistant Studies Building
As part of the College of Health Sciences, you’ll join our community of faculty scholars and academically talented peers who are doing cutting-edge research, providing expert care and serving communities in Milwaukee and around the world. And 98% of our students are employed, in graduate school or military service six months after graduation.
100% of our graduates are employed as physician assistants after graduation. They practice in a variety of specialties, including cardiology, emergency medicine, family medicine, pediatrics and orthopedics. Here’s where some of our recent graduates landed.
While you’re here at Marquette, preparing you for what’s next will be one of our top priorities. So, expect lots of learning by doing, connecting with others who share your passions, and reflecting on how you can Be The Difference.
In our gross anatomy lab, you'll see the human body up close for an entire intensive semester. It's one of the only gross anatomy courses for undergrads in the country.
During your final year of study, you’ll work full time with practicing physician assistants and physicians during your clinical internship rotations in pediatrics, family practice, internal medicine, surgery and emergency medicine. And you can choose to add specialty rotations to customize your degree in areas such as orthopedics, surgical subspecialties or internal medicine subspecialties.
You’ll get a chance to work with internationally respected researchers and their teams who are tackling some of society's most pressing medical problems.
Here are some of the things Marquette faculty and students are solving right now:
Go even deeper with our Biomedical Sciences Summer Research Program, where you'll have the unique opportunity to conduct independent research under the guidance of a faculty mentor.

Expand your education with a semester abroad. Study program course work at prestigious universities around the world or volunteer in health care settings serving communities in need. Other international opportunities are available through our Global Brigades program.
