Yellow Ribbon Program
The Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program is a provision of the Post 9/11 Veterans Education Assistance Act of 2008. This program allows institutions of higher learning in the United States to voluntarily enter into an agreement with the VA to fund tuition expenses that exceed the highest public in state undergraduate tuition rate.
The table below identifies the contributions that Marquette University will provide to eligible veterans in conjunction with the Yellow Ribbon Program:

* Note: the $11,327.50 for the academic year for full-time students enrolled in Law School includes an allowance of $268.75/credit hour for the summer term. If an eligible law student is enrolled part-time in the fall and spring, the Law School's contribution will be less, but probably approximately $1,950 per semester (25% of $1,295 per credit hour x 6 credits= $1,942.50).
Eligibility
Only individuals entitled to the maximum benefit rate (base on service requirements) may receive this funding. Therefore, a student may be eligible if:
- served an aggregate period of active duty after September 10, 2001 of at least 36 months.
- were honorably discharged from active duty for a service connected disability and they served 30 continuous days after September 10, 2001.
- are a dependent eligible for Transfer of Entitlement under the Post 9/11 GI Bill based on a veteran's service under the eligibility criteria listed above.
Application for the Yellow Ribbon Program is on a "first come first served" basis; as Marquette's participation is limited to the number of student's in specified programs. To apply the student will have to:
- provide the Office of the Registrar with a copy of the Certificate of Eligibility which certifies eligibility at the 100% level and potentially eligible for the Yellow Ribbon Program.
Once these documents are received and if a Yellow Ribbon positions available the student will be notified by the Office of the Registrar that they will be receiving additional tuition benefits based upon their school or programs participation in the YRP. Again, selection as a Yellow Ribbon Program recipient is on a "first come, first served" basis.
The Office of the Registrar will notify the sponsoring School/Program, the Office of the Bursar and the Office of Student Financial Aid with the names of students who will be awarded additional education benefits based on the Yellow Ribbon Program.
