A supervised practical experience in a major field of study that provides opportunities to apply knowledge gained in academic settings. |

A course that blends face-to-face class meetings and online delivery of course content and discussions; a substantial portion (30% to 79%) of the course is delivered online. |
| IS |
Individualized Study Course |
A course where one-on-one instruction or a research experience is provided by an instructor to an individual student outside of the classroom. |
| LB |
Laboratory Course |
A course that meets in a defined physical setting (i.e. laboratory) for the purpose of the application of methods and principles of a discipline; the primary emphasis of such courses is often "learning by doing."
Laboratory classes may be stand-alone (for credit), but are typically a non-credit component of the traditional classroom-based section. As such, lab sections generally contain fewer students than the course to which they are linked. |
| OL |
Online Course |
A course where online delivery of course content and discussions predominates and where 80% to 100% of the course is delivered online. |
