I received my Ph.D. from the University of Oregon where I wrote my dissertation on the phenomenon of chance in Greek thought (mainly Aristotle, with recourse to the Platonic dialogues). My teaching and research interests stem from an engagement with the Greeks through the history of philosophy writ large. In addition to the aims of my dissertation, I am particularly interested in the relationship between philosophy and myth, tragedy, and literature, as well as the dialogical nature of philosophy itself. Besides my work on the Greeks, I have published or presented papers on Spinoza, Lucretius, Schelling, Heidegger, and most recently Julia Kristeva. I have taught courses in the Core Curriculum at Marquette and courses in the history of philosophy as well as upper-division courses on Philosophy of the Arts, Film, and Cultural Diversity. Moreover, I am looking forward to incorporating service-learning into my classroom in the spring.
