All parents are welcome to join the Parents Association Board of Directors. In addition to serving as active Parents Association Volunteers, board members attend two on-campus meetings per year. Board meetings take place the Saturday of "Move-in weekend" and the first Saturday in April.
The Parents Association Board is not a PTA or Booster Club, but rather a forum for parents who wish to have that extra connection with the university. Board meetings are an opportunity to share information with parents about the university's programs and initiatives. They are also an opportunity for parents to provide feedback and ask questions. Many times, topics discussed at Board meetings result in articles published in the Parents Association Newsletter or speakers brought in for Family Weekend.
Support of Marquette University is another key priority of the Parents Association Board. Parents Fund National Co-Chairs serve on the Parents Association Board in an effort to increase awareness and promote support of the Parents Fund.
The Board is also home to various committees, which meet with departments throughout the university. These
meetings serve as an opportunity for parents to learn more about important areas within the university. Addtionally, each committee meeting provides an opportunity for university administrators to gain insight to parent perspective. As a result of these meetings, many of these departments have incorporated Parent Volunteers into their programming for the year. Parents Association Board Committees include the following areas:
- Public Safety
- Student Affairs - Alcohol Awareness Taskforce
- Family Weekend/Special Events
- Student Health Services
- Residence Life
- Career Services
- Admissions
