Hank Aaron to speak at commencement
Baseball legend Hank Aaron will be Marquette University's Commencement speaker, Sunday, May 20.
Aaron played as an outfielder for the Milwaukee Braves, Atlanta Braves and Milwaukee Brewers from 1954-1976 and holds many of baseball's most distinguished records. In addition to Aaron's contributions to baseball, he has worked on behalf of racial equality, civil rights and helping others through his Chasing the Dream Foundation, which helps underprivileged children.
All residence halls except Mashuda close for spring break
All residence halls except Mashuda Hall will be closed for spring break at noon, Saturday, March 10, reopening Sunday, March 18, at 8 a.m. Only students who are permanent residents of Mashuda may stay in the building over break.
Help available for students looking for summer internships and jobs
Summer jobs and internships are a great way to gain skills, can lead to future job opportunities and look good on a resume. Students who are trying to land a summer job, but don't know where to start or want some help, are encouraged to visit Marquette University's Career Services Center.
Career Counselors are available to help students through the job search process and get them registered on MU Career Manager, which provides access to local job and internship postings. The center also provides services to help students with resumes and cover letters, and how to select and approach people to complete reference letters and letters of recommendation.
Students are encouraged to make an appointment by calling the center, (414) 288-7423. Walk-in assistance is available daily, Monday through Friday, noon to 2 p.m., on a first-come, first-served basis. These 15 minute sessions are good for brief resume critiques, questions about MU Career Manager, or brief interviewing assistance. Summer class registration opens March 22
Registration for 500-plus summer classes offered by Marquette begins on March 22. With small class sizes and flexible evening courses, as well as a few select weekend courses, students can earn credits in just six weeks. More information about classes being offered and how to register is available on Marquette Central.

Lil' Siblings Weekend,
April 20-22
Registration and waiver forms are now available for Lil' Siblings Weekend, April 20-22, sponsored by the Residence Hall Association.
Lil' Sibs Weekend is an opportunity for siblings, cousins, other relatives or family friends of Marquette to student to spend a weekend on campus. A variety of family-friendly and age appropriate activities are planned, including a visit to the Milwaukee County Zoo, laser tag and carnival themed games.

Alumni National Awards Weekend, April 26-28
Each spring, Marquette sets aside one special weekend to honor distinguished alumni from every college and school who represent the heart, soul and spirit of Marquette, during Alumni National Awards Weekend.
This year, Marquette will recognize Glenn "Doc" A. Rivers, Arts '85, as Alumnus of the year. He got his nickname when he arrived for summer basketball camp on Marquette's campus in 1980 wearing a Dr. J. shirt. Since then, the name Doc has been synonymous with excellence, first as a guard on Marquette's men's basketball team, then as an NBA player and now as head coach of the Boston Celtics.

MARQUETTE ATHLETICS
Men's basketball on a roll
The Marquette men's basketball team has been on a roll as of late, winning 5-in-a-row and 12 of its last 13 games, to give the Golden Eagles a 24-5 overall record. Led by seniors Jae Crowder and Darius Johnson-Odom, Marquette has already accomplished a program-best 13 BIG EAST Conference wins with two games left to play. The team is in action tonight vs. Cincinnati (6 p.m. CST, on ESPN2), before the regular season finale vs. Georgetown on Saturday.
The men's team has clinched a double-bye in the BIG EAST Tournament and will play their first game Thursday, March 8. Marquette will then learn its fate for the NCAA Tournament on Selection Sunday, March 11.
Terri Mitchell and the Marquette women's basketball team has been hit hard by injuries and sit at 13-16 overall and 4-12 in the BIG EAST. The team has claimed the No. 14-seed in the conference tournament and will open championship play this Friday vs. No. 11-seed Cincinnati. The game can be found online at BIGEAST.tv.
