Overview and Personnel


The Office of Nursing Research and Scholarship (ONRS) is designed to encourage and support scientific investigations by faculty and students. Services provided by the ONRS include:
  • Assistance in locating funding opportunities
  • Grant application preparation and submission
  • Consultation for design and data analysis
  • Conduct of scientific studies
  • Budgetary development
  • Scientific review of proposals
  • Personnel management guidance
  • Assistance with annual report preparation
  • Guidance for protection of human subjects
  • Maintenance and dissemination of information on funding opportunities, conferences, research development and training opportunities
  • Coordination of research colloquia for faculty
  • Consultation on research program development
  • Coordination of research mentoring program
  • Support for dissemination activities
  • Resources such as clinical agency IRB requirements, instrument repository, etc.

    Mrs. Claire Schmidt

    • BSN from Marquette University in 2003
    • Currently enrolled in the Adult Nurse Practitioner program at Marquette, graduating in May 2010
    • Cardiac and ICU nursing background, worked as an electrophysiology nurse clinician prior to starting graduate school
    • Research interests include heart failure patients and end of life care

     

    Ms. Amy E. Heinrich

    • BS in Chemistry from Mount Mary College in Milwaukee, WI 2002
    • Enrolled in Marquette University’s Direct Entry Program in the Summer of 2006
    • Became a Registered Nurse in 2007 and am currently pursuing my Masters Degree in Nursing
    • Graduate this May (2010) as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
    • Previous involvement in research:
      • Completed Summer Program for Undergraduate Research through Medical College of Wisconsin in 2001
      • Senior Research Technician studying pulmonary hypertension in a rat model at VA Medical Center/Medical College of Wisconsin from 2002-2004
      • Research Assistant with Human and Molecular Genetics Center/Individualized Medicine Institute at Medical College of Wisconsin 2004-2007
      • Clinical Research Coordinator with Department of Dermatology & Birthmarks and Vascular Anomalies Center from 2007-2009

    • MSN from University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2001 focusing on the roles of the Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Nurse Specialist
    • Certified by ANCC as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner since 2001
    • Currently enrolled in the PhD Program at Marquette
    • Clinical background includes Gastroenterology, ER/Urgent Care, Cardiology, Neurosurgery, Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine

     

    Ms. Edna Hudson-Kinzey

    • Undergraduate in Nursing from Cardinal Stritch University with ADN, 1996 and BSN, 1999
    • Graduate of Walden University with MSN Education in 2008
    • Currently enrolled in the Midwifery program at Marquette. I plan to graduate in May 2010
    • Currently pursuing my Doctorate in Education with a focus on Higher Education and Adult Learning
    • Interested in qualitative research in women’s health, obstetrics, and development of education materials that provide options to make informed consent about health promotion and prevention.
