History
In 1912 Marquette University acquired the Trinity Hospital Training School for Nursing and the nurses' residence. Quickly following that acquisition the nursing school became a division of higher education at Marquette and graduated 18 nursing students. At that time, Marquette University was the only university in Wisconsin to offer a three-year nursing certificate. In 1936, the College of Nursing became a constituent college of Marquette University with a four-year collegiate program designed by the College's first dean, Dr. Berenice Beck, OSF. The College of Nursing now offers a curriculum leading to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, a Masters of Science in Nursing degree, a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing degree and has a wide array of offerings for those pursuing a career in nursing. To date, over 6,500 people have graduated from Marquette's nursing programs.
