Don't miss this important Marquette tradition! New Student Convocation is the formal welcome to the academic rigor, responsibility and opportunity that awaits you at Marquette. All incoming first-year students are required to attend.

The ceremony includes remarks by Dr. Michael R. Lovell, Marquette University President, as well as an address by Dr. Abiola Keller, director of clinical research and clinical assistant professor of Physician Assistant Studies in the College of Health Sciences.

Families and students are seated separately; students are seated in the lower level seating and family members are seated in upper level seating. This event is followed by separate events for students and family members. For that reason, family members who plan to leave campus after New Student Convocation are encouraged to say "good-bye" to their student prior to the ceremony.

While the ceremony begins at 7 p.m., doors to the Al McGuire Center open promptly at 6:30 p.m., and students are encouraged to arrive early. Suggested dress is business casual, but all are welcome.

Registration is not required for New Student Convocation, or any other events of New Student Orientation. You are required to check in for New Student Orientation to receive your complete schedule of events in the Alumni Memorial Union 3rd floor ballrooms between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2015. For a tentative schedule of New Student Orientation events, please visit the orientation website.
