Meet the Candidates

President / Executive Vice President

Giuseppe Pappalardo / Billy Doerrer

There is a disconnect in communication between the students and their representatives in MUSG. This disconnect leads to fundamental problems in MUSG addressing the students’ needs and concerns. As MUSG Executives, our goal will be simple: To repair the disconnect by putting the student back in student government.

Arts & Sciences Senator

Susan Hernandez

I find our recycling system throughout the residence hall not as good as it could be. With all the water, juice, and soda bottles this campus uses per day I believe that not enough are recycled. I want to change that! Not only for this campus, but for our environment.

Liz Judy

As a senator for the College of Arts and Sciences, I would do my best to champion those issues that most affect the students of that college in everyday life. While serving as senator I would make sure that I always have their desires and opinions in mind.

John Kristan

To promote student interests, to serve as an advocate for students, and to serve as a link between administrators and students.

Thaddeus “Tip” McGuire

As one of the current Arts and Sciences Senators, I have both the experience and the know-how to write and pass necessary and responsible legislation. However, having spent this year in Senate, I have had the great opportunity to accurately assess the problems and difficulties facing the noble legislative body. I have to a series of conclusions, not the least of which is the necessity for increased communication between the student body and the Senate. As your Senator, I would continue to increase student awareness of the current forums provided for student feedback, as well as attempt to create further forums for feedback. Perhaps a Facebook feedback group or monthly Arts and Sciences feedback night would be appropriate measures towards this goal. As your Senator, I have made sure to keep the general student body’s welfare constantly in mind and would continue to fight for the people I serve (YOU!) should you re-elect me as your Senator.

Thanks,

Thaddeus “Tip” McGuire

Business Administration Senator

Jonathan Giel

I hope to increase the communication between administration, student leaders, and students. As a Business Senator, I would communicate with my constituents and make sure their concerns are voiced. I also would follow up with the concerns of my constituents. Too often, the administration hears our concerns, but there is no follow up. Communications is important and that would be my focus if elected as Business Senator.

Raveen Shah

If I am elected to the position of Business Senator, I promise to expand the opportunities of students in the College of Business and integrate MUSG into its activities. I plan to work alongside student leaders to implement more out-of-classroom experiences such as business conferences, leadership activities, and more networking opportunities. Finally, I will aid various business groups with the necessary funding to fulfill their programs.

Communication Senator

Paige Jorgensen

I would like to continue to build on what the current senate has done this past year. We have worked on a lot of projects involving student concerns, a lot of projects involving student concerns, including safety, Sweeny’s, and student organizations and allocations. I have done a lot of work on these issues with the Student Organization Committee, the Ad Hoc Committee on the Student Organization Allocation Process, and most recently on the Student Organization Allocation Committee. I also want to keep up my relationship with the College of Communications.

Chaz Maas

My goal as senator is to draw attention to overlooked student media (Marquette University Radio and MUTV.) In essence I wish to bridge the gap between Marquette’s Student Media and Student government to make both more beneficial to the student body.

Michael Parreño

To increase transparency in MUSG, to better communicate the ideas of the Students of the College of Communications, to be the voice of the College of Communications and bring their issues to the right venue where they can be addressed.

Joe Woelfel

My objective as Communications Senator is to make the College of Communications more visible on campus. I’ll achieve this by focusing on putting on more events that are pertinent to communications students. I also want to see improvement to campus that makes life easier for students, for example increasing the number of bicycle racks near heavily used buildings.

Engineering Senator

Scott Emerson

I, as MUSG engineering senator, will strive to voice the concerns of the College of Engineering whether that is the general student body, the engineering student council, engineers without borders, or any other organization affiliated with the college.

David Polyak

As a Marquette University College of Engineering Senator, I will continue to listen to the voices of my constituents, continue to relay important issues addressing my constituents to MUSG, and will relay/express MUSG/University concerns to my constituents.

Health Sciences Senator

Nursing Senator

Adam Michael Tandez

As the College of Nursing Senator for Marquette University Student Government, I, Adam Michael B. Tandez, plan to continue serving the College of Nursing, and the Marquette Community, by being an active component in all phases that I can be.
