Tenure Track Positions Available for Fall 2013

The Department of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science (MSCS) at Marquette University invites applications for two tenure-track positions in mathematics or statistics at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 19, 2013.  For one position, we seek an individual with exceptional training in statistics who will also contribute to our bioinformatics program.  For the other position, we seek an individual with outstanding mathematical training whose research program will augment or extend existing department research strengths.  Preference will be shown to those that demonstrate the ability to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, with a strong research record that demonstrates potential for establishing an externally funded research program.

Currently, the Department comprises twenty-seven full-time faculty in pure and applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, and mathematics education.  The Department places emphasis on basic, applied and collaborative research, teaching, and interdisciplinary programs.  Our faculty maintain close ties with the Medical College of Wisconsin, Zablocki VA Medical Center, other Milwaukee area hospitals, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, other regional institutions and industrial partners, as well as Marquette science and engineering departments.  For more information about the Department and its programs see www.mscs.mu.edu.

Summer 2013 Research Experience

The Department of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science hosted the NSF-funded Summer 2013 Research Experience (REU) for Undergraduates. This program provides U.S. undergraduates with an intensive, faculty-mentored, summer research experience in the areas of applied mathematics, high-performance computing, statistics, ubiquitous systems and mathematics education.
