About Mission Week 2015

It is our privilege to invite you once again to Marquette’s annual exploration of our university’s Catholic, Jesuit intellectual mission and how that mission might be stretched even further for the good of the human community. The Mission Week 2015 theme, Who Cares? Charity, Justice and the Quest for the Common Good, will guide us as we reflect on how we can be compassionate in responding to the needs of our sisters and brothers locally and internationally.

Underwriting and support

Mission Week 2015 is being underwritten by a generous grant from the Cottrell Family Foundation. It is coordinated through the Office of Mission and Ministry and the Center for Peacemaking.

Aware that we are part of a wider community, Marquette has partnered with Catholic Relief Services, an international powerhouse that serves in countries around the globe to meet human needs and uphold the dignity of every person. Accomplished CRS professionals from a variety of disciplines and locales will join us for a week of discussions that explore the frontiers of head and heart needed to create a more just and humane world.

The many events of Mission Week are accessible to everyone in the Marquette community: students, faculty, staff, alumni and community partners. Speakers and guests will be on campus during the week to offer their expertise on local and global issues and share their amazing lives. Consider registering for a class discussion, attending a talk or taking part in the Helping Hands volunteer event. Above all, attend the speech of CRS president Carolyn Woo on Monday and get your ticket for Thursday’s closing keynote address with Vanessa Tobin, CRS’ senior technical adviser for water supply, sanitation and water resources development, and Dr. Mwayabo Jean Claude Kazadi, CRS’ senior technical adviser for HIV care.

Whether you are familiar with Mission Week or new to this annual tradition, we hope you will participate in our wide range of academic, spiritual, artistic and social events. Mission Week is about building a civilization of love at a Jesuit university, and it would not be complete without your presence.
