March 2014 -- Marquette University's Chapel of the Holy Family will display The Saint John's Bible during the season of Lent, March 5 through April 17.

Genesis 2 illumination

The Saint John's Bible is the first handwritten and illuminated Bible commissioned since the printing press in the 15th century. With its 160 illuminations and 1,150 pages it is an inspring piece of art.

Select passages will be on display in the Chapel of the Holy Family.

The Chapel of the Holy Family is located in the Alumni Memorial Union. The chapel is open to all of the Marquette University community during regular AMU hours. Mass is held in the chapel on Sundays at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. when classes are in session.

Additional images from The Saint John's Bible will be on display in the Raynor Library Information Commons.

All seven volumes of the Heritage Edition can be viewed in Raynor Library's Special Collections and University Archives during regular hours, weekdays from 8 a.m. through 5 p.m.
