The Libraries have added the following new online subscriptions and digital texts since January 2011. Most are new acquisitions, while several represent a change of format or significant enhancement to ongoing subscriptions.  All are available to Marquette users from any campus network location, as well as from off-campus. New Databases

African American Newspapers
Included is the cultural life and history during the 1800s rich with first-hand reports of the major events and issues of the day, including the Mexican War, Presidential and Congressional addresses, Congressional abstracts, business and commodity markets, the humanities, world travel and religion. The collection also provides a great number of early biographies, vital statistics, essays and editorials, poetry and prose, and advertisements all of which embody the African-American experience. Includes Regional, Systemic, Functional and Dentistry modules. Features interactive 3D human anatomy models, MRI scans, quizzes, movies, interactive animations and more. Content may be exported for use in lectures, student presentations or patient handouts. Allow pop-ups. Requires Flash.

Aristoteles Latinus Database
Provides access to the complete corpus of medieval Greek-Latin translations of the works of Aristotle which includes the texts that have been critically edited in the print series Aristoteles Latinus. The electronic and the printed editions are thus intended to be complementary.

Bibliography of Asian Studies
This bibliographic database covers all subjects, especially in the humanities and social sciences, pertaining to East, Southeast, and South Asia published worldwide from 1971 to the present.

Black Thought and Culture
Black Thought and Culture includes monographs, essays, articles, speeches, and interviews written by leaders within the black community from the earliest times to the present. Subjects indexed include colonialism, socialism, Marxism, democracy, capitalism, the Labor movement, segregation, poverty, education, religion, sharecropping, Jim Crow laws, the New Deal, the World Wars, the Black Liberation movement, the South, the Scottsboro and Herndon trials, black nationalism, miscegenation, the black athlete, civil rights, apartheid, the Black Panther party, the Negritude movement, the NAACP, birth control, the vote, urban ghettoes vs. the rural South, strategies of protest and demonstration, and many more.

Blackwell Reference Online
Includes over 400 full-text reference works in the humanities and social sciences. See complete title list here.

Cambridge Histories Online
This collection of over 270 volumes (Excel title list here) covers many topics including: general, American, ancient, British, economic, medieval, modern, and world histories; language and linguistics; music; philosophy; political and social theory; religious studies; theater and performing arts; and warfare.

Chicano Database
Indexing over 2,400 journals, this database covers the Mexican-American, Chicano and the broader Latino experience. Subject areas include: art, bilingual education, education, health, history, labor, language, literature, mental health, and politics.

Electronic Enlightenment
This distinctive database includes letters between more than 7,000 correspondents from 45 nationalities primarily from Europe and the Americas and dating between the early 17th to the mid-19th century. The letters are transcribed into modern type but reproduced in the original language and spelling. One can search the full text as well as limit by writer, recipient, language, country, city, date, title, and more. The extensive scholarly support apparatus contains biographies of the correspondents, and the database is regularly updated.

Encyclopedia of Jews in the Islamic World
Covers the history, anthropology, ethnography, folklore, law and jurisprudence, linguistics, sociology, politics, philosophy, religious studies, women's studies, art history, literature, film studies, material culture, and biographies of notable persons from the 17th Century to the present.

Naxos Music Library
Naxos Music Library streaming audio database is an extensive online collection of classical jazz, folk, world, classic rock and other types of music. Included are more than 51,220 CD-length recordings with the addition of over 800 CD-length recordings every month. More than 10,000 composer and artist biographies are included in the database as well as complete catalogues or selected recordings of over 250 independent labels. Other highlights include: Music notes, cover artwork, tracklist, instrumentation and publisher information; Libretti and synopses of more than 700 operas; Glossary, guide to musical terms and work analyses; and a Pronunciation guide for composer and artist names. Marquette's subscription allows up to five simultaneous users.

Naxos Spoken Word Library
NAXOS is a streaming audiobook database comprised of more than 750 American classics, German classics, plays, philosophical works, and musical biographies including notable authors such as Plato, Austen, Chaucer, Dickens, Shakespeare, Nietzsche, Goethe, and many more. Many recordings are accompanied by on-screen text. Marquette's subscription allows up to five simultaneous users. No minimum user requirements and apps are available for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

North American Indian Thought and Culture
The database contains over 119,000 pages of text and images, including biographies, auto-biographies, personal narratives, speeches, diaries, letters, and oral histories. The database represents the largest compilation ever created of biographical information on indigenous peoples from all areas of North America.

Oxford Scholarship Online: Religion
This collection includes thirty full-text books, covering all areas of religion and theology.

Notable changes and Enhancements

International Aristotle Bibliography Online is the new title, formerly Aristotle Bibliography, available from Brill, of the comprehensive database of Aristotle scholarship.

MLA International Bibliography
In addition to access via Literature Online, the Libraries have added access via the new ProQuest platform for this important source of scholarship on modern languages, literatures, folklore, and linguistics.

ProQuest has migrated most of its electronic products to an all-new platform. In addition to a new look, ProQuest databases offer new user-friendly and intuitive features, plus he ability to search across multiple ProQuest databases by selecting specific databases. SPORTDiscus with Full Text (upgraded from SPORTDiscus) is the world's most comprehensive source of full text for sports & sports medicine journals, providing full text for 550 journals indexed in SPORTDiscus back to 1985.

Value Line Investment Survey (Plus Edition)
This popular financial database has migrated from print to online, as well as upgraded in content. It now includes investment information for about 1,700 large-cap stocks and 1,800 small- or medium-cap companies. For each company this includes: year-ahead and three- to five-year probable relative price performance; projections of key financial measures; and concise, objective commentary on current operations and future prospects. It also provides short-term industry reviews, and a stock screening feature. Coverage: 1997 - present.
