An all-new 2007 edition of Foundations in Wisconsin is hot off
the press. Published by the Libraries' Funding
Information Center, the annual directory details 1,251 foundations with total assets of $6.2
billion. This edition recorded almost $479 million in grants made by Wisconsin private,
corporate, and community foundations. All members of the campus community have free
access to the online version. More…
The Libraries’ newest digital collection debuted during the summer. As a
capstone contribution to the 125th anniversary celebration and background to Dr.
Thomas Jablonsky’s new history of the University, Special Collections digitized the complete text
of two out-of-print histories, including that of Raphael Hamilton, S.J., (1953) and the
quarter-century celebration of Marquette College (1906). More… |

and enhancements since January 2007, including such varied subjects as antiquity, business
management, film and television, and eighteenth-century periodicals. More…
Attention JSTOR users: in an effort to protect this important journal archive, the
Libraries now require off-campus users to access JSTOR via Marquette’s Virtual Private Network
(VPN). To the extent possible, electronic resources may be accessed from off campus
locations via the Libraries’ own proxy server. However, occasional incompatibility (see list) or extra security
requirements will dictate use of the VPN. More…
New subject librarians: Jay Kirk, head of collection
development, has announced new subject responsibilities for four
librarians replacing recent retirements. Rosemary Del Toro
(Chemistry); Alberto Herrera (Political Science); Julie O’Keeffe
(Mathematics); and Nia Schudson (Physics). This brings to 19

New log in/log out, using eMarq/CheckMarq
username and password, is required on all Raynor Memorial PCs. It is important that users
remember to log out when finished; failure to log out leaves an account open for others to
access. Instituted in August, the new authentication process assures network security.
MARQCAT users will welcome new browser buttons and plugins that will customize your browser
for easy MARQCAT searching. More…
