August 2008—MARQCAT
Enhancements

MARQCAT has been upgraded to the latest catalog software release
available from software vendor Innovative Interfaces, Inc. The newest version
of the catalog software allows more features and customization to users,
including the following: |
- Relevancy ranking in keyword
searches. Searches are ranked into five different groupings starting with "Most
Relevant" (the small number of titles where the primary title contains the
keywords as a phrase) down to "Other Relevant" (words from the search phrase
from anywhere in the record). Relevancy ranking in results is now the
default
display, but users can change results to sort by title or date.

- Browse displays (when searching author, title, or subject) allow users to
see more bibliographic information beyond the title and year.

- A new full-record display for
books with tables of contents is easier to read.

- DVD and VHS records have been separated so users can better identify
the format of the individual items, or do an advanced search for a
particular format.
- Font changes have been implemented; depending on the user's browser
defaults, users will see Verdana, Geneva, or Arial fonts.
