Libraries Add Dissertations and Theses: Full Text

November 2007—Raynor Memorial Libraries announce the addition of Dissertations and Theses: Full Text, a major upgrade to the resource formerly titled Dissertation Abstracts.  Library users now have access to full text dissertations from other institutions, as well as those published by Marquette students.  Graduate students customarily consult the database to find dissertations related to their proposed topic.  Students, faculty, and other researchers search it for works related to their scholarly interests.

The Dissertations and Theses database contains records and abstracts for more than 2 million doctoral dissertations and master's theses.  Now the full text content for more than 930,000 dissertations from over 700 universities is included; more than 60,000 new graduate works are added each year.  Of the citations in the database, nearly all dissertations since 1997 and about 1/3 of graduate works published prior to 1997 are available full text.  A combination of new graduate works and older titles that have been freshly digitized are put in the database daily.  The number of available full text dissertations is expected to hit 1 million PDFs by mid-2008.

  • Full text (PDF) dissertations are immediately available to view, print or save; no more waiting for interlibrary loans
