My first year at Marquette was a little bit of a shock to me after high school. It was not easy, but I managed to get a 3.3 by second semester with a 3.15 overall. I know that I will do better next year because I am more prepared for the workload and the way classes are run, and I am actually looking forward to taking more classes.

Next year I am planning on getting involved in many more activities. I want to participate in even more community service projects than I did last year.

One day in particular I volunteered at a Boys and Girls Club and spent the day with special needs children to give their parents a day off. It was an eye opening experience for me. I really felt connected to those kids and I want to help out with things like that as much as I can.

I am also thinking about getting involved in some intramurals, because there are tons offered at Marquette. It is somewhat difficult for me to get involved in a lot of extra curricular activities, because work study is a part of my financial package.

I have been working at the Phonathon for the past year and that is where I am a few nights a week. It gives me good experience in dealing with all types of people over the phone, so it will come to good use in the future.

Overall I love Marquette. I have had some great professors and classes, and I have met interesting people from all over the world. I am so thankful that I was able to get the financial support I needed to be able to come to a university that seems perfect for me. I cannot say thank you enough!
