Director of Development, College of Education and Office of Mission & Identity
The Director of Development, College of Education and Office of Mission and Identity acts as a liaison between University Advancement (UA) and said units, leading and coordinating institutional engagement and fundraising efforts for University Advancement. Working with UA leadership, the dean and the executive director, (s)he identifies and develops programmatic synergies between the two entities, and, in turn, builds each fundraising strategy for both together. The Director maintains a portfolio of major gift prospects and interacts regularly with other University Advancement fundraisers whose prospects have interest in unit priorities; the Director leads the other fundraisers in the qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of these prospects. Other responsibilities include ensuring that UA colleagues are trained and prepared to promote the units' priorities; attending alumni engagement events; and other duties that further relationships between the units, UA, and alumni and benefactors of the University.
QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and five years of sales or fundraising experience in higher education or the non-profit sector, including a successful fundraising track record of working a portfolio of prospects and securing major gifts. Other development-related experience, including volunteer management, event management and strategic planning is desirable. The candidate will ideally have had experience in Catholic higher education, or with Catholic schools, other Catholic/Jesuit institutions or church organizations, in general. The successful candidate will have strong oral and written communication skills and experience in messaging and branding, particularly around mission, ideally in an academic setting; ability to work with colleagues across the University and establish and foster relationships that encourage a collaborative work environment; strong organizational skills, the ability to manage several projects simultaneously. A master's degree is preferred.
