Director of Development, College of Health Sciences
The Director of Development, College of Health Sciences acts as a liaison between University Advancement (UA) and the College, leading and coordinating academic engagement and fundraising efforts for University Advancement. Working with UA leadership and the dean, (s)he develops and implements the fundraising strategy for the college. The Director maintains a portfolio of major gift prospects and interacts regularly with other University Advancement fundraisers whose prospects have interest in college priorities; the Director leads the other fundraisers in the qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of these prospects. Other responsibilities include ensuring that UA colleagues are trained and prepared to promote the colleges' priorities; attending alumni engagement events; and other duties that further relationships between the college, University Advancement, and alumni and benefactors of the University.
QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and five years of sales or fundraising experience in higher education, including a successful fundraising track record of working a portfolio of prospects and securing major gifts. The candidate will ideally have had experience with or an understanding of the laboratory and clinical sciences, or healthcare profession; strong verbal and written communication skills and experience in messaging and branding, especially in an academic setting; work collaboratively; strong organizational skills and an ability to manage several projects simultaneously. A master’s degree in Public Administration or Business Administration is preferred and other development-related experience, including volunteer management, event management and strategic planning, is desirable.
