Students (except nursing majors) can pursue this minor to gain a better understanding of health and nutrition issues, health care systems, and health care ethics.

Minor in health studies curriculum

A total of six courses is needed to complete the minor in health studies, with a minimum of two courses from both of the categories below.

Select at least two courses from any of the following:

  • Nutritional Aspects of Health
  • Personal Health and Fitness
  • Culture and Health
  • Women's Health
  • Substance Abuse
  • Veteran Health and Culture
  • Topics in Health Care
  • Normal and Therapeutic Nutrition
  • Topics in Health Care
  • Men, Masculinities and Health

Plus, another two courses selected from any of the following:

  • Special Topics in Biomedical Science
  • Public Health
  • Health Communication
  • Health, Science and Environmental Communication
  • Primary Health Care Concepts
  • Interdisciplinary Palliative Care
  • Culture, Health and Illness
  • Race, Gender and Medicine
  • Sociology of Aging

The last two courses may be selected from either group.
