Dr. Mayer joined the Marquette Engineering faculty in the fall of 2012. She specializes in Environmental Engineering, with interests spanning nutrient removal and recovery in water and wastewater systems, detection and quantification of infectious waterborne viruses, and removal and disinfection of emerging microbial pathogens. When interviewed by the Marquette Engineers Magazine, Dr. Mayer said one of the reasons she was interested in coming to Milwaukee, and Marquette, because of the cryptosporidium outbreak in 1993.
