Public Education in the City: Pass or Fail?
The School of Education, in cooperation with the Les Aspin Alumni Council, invites you to explore the current state of public education in the Milwaukee Public School system on Monday, April 7 at 4pm at Marquette University. The event will be held in Raynor Library conference rooms B and C.
Public Education in the City: Pass or Fail? is an Aspin Speaker Series event and will feature a panel of influential policy-makers and education specialists in the Milwaukee area. The distinguished guests will provide their expertise on the quality of the Milwaukee Public School system and suggest how it can be improved through future policy change and community collaboration. This thoughtful and engaging discussion will analyze existing policies and highlight policy-makers’ personal opinions. Refreshments will be provided and everyone is invited to attend
Panelists include Dr. Kathleen Cepelka, Associate Dean of the Marquette University School of Education; Peter Blewett, President of the Milwaukee Public School Board; Myra Edwards, Education Policy specialist for Mayor Barrett; and Dennis Oulahan, President of Milwaukee Teachers Education Association. Alan Borsuk, a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel journalist, will be moderating the event.
