College of Education Receives Scholarship Gifts

Released: 1/22/2016

Marquette University’s College of Education has received two important gifts to increase scholarship support for students. As part of a larger gift to Marquette University, Church Mutual Insurance has included $90,000 for the College of Education. A portion of this gift will be allocated to the newly established Church Mutual Insurance Education Policy and Leadership Fund for graduate students enrolled in the Educational Policy and Leadership department. The remaining portion also establishes the new Church Mutual College of Education Immediate Impact Scholarship fund to be awarded each year to two students enrolled in the College of Education through 2019.

“The generous support from Church Mutual Insurance could not come at a more important time,” says Dr. Bill Henk, Dean of the College of Education. “Our aspiring teachers and school leaders will all benefit immensely from the much needed financial support this extremely welcome gift provides, and we are grateful for Church Mutual’s partnership in supporting education.”

Rich Poirier, CEO, Church Mutual Insurance Company, added, “Church Mutual takes great pride in having a long-standing tradition of providing insurance solutions to parochial schools. We have entered a new chapter in our history and undertaken a major commitment to provide insurance products to public schools in Wisconsin and throughout the United States. We could think of no better way to underscore that commitment than by providing scholarships and funds to the Marquette College of Education. Marquette’s values align very closely with those we hold dear at Church Mutual Insurance.”
