After three years of dedicated service to the College of Education, Dr. Kathleen Cepelka, Associate Dean, will assume the duties of superintendent for Catholic schools for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, beginning July 1, 2010.
"I will always deeply value Marquette and I am grateful for the opportunity to have served here in a number of roles over the past twenty years," Dr. Cepelka commented, "The mission of the College of Education will continue to inspire me in my new position, as will the example of many of the colleagues with whom I've worked since 2007."
Prior to joining the College of Education as Associate Dean and Director of Teacher Education, Dr. Cepelka served as principal at Catholic Memorial High School from 1999-2007. During her career she has contributed at every level of Catholic education, from elementary school students to adults. She has also served on numerous boards, including the Board of Directors for Notre Dame Middle School, and she has given generously of her time through service on various archdiocesan committees, including the Office for Schools’ Theology and Faith Formation Committee.
"Dr. Cepelka is as close to being irreplaceable as anyone with whom I’ve ever worked," said Dean Henk, "With her long and successful experience as a Catholic educator, her keen mind, her professional skill set, her work ethic, and her devotion to the faith, I have every confidence that Kathleen will make a truly significant difference as superintendent."
