Dear students,

It’s almost Homecoming 2016! All of the campus community is excited about the opportunity to come together and celebrate our school spirit. There are multiple opportunities to engage with one another, such as donating a non-perishable item to Stuff the Truck, competing in the bed races, attending Marquette’s Got Talent, or running in the Blue and Gold Color Run. I’ll be at a number of these events and hope to see you there as well. A complete schedule is available online.

It’s also important to remember who we are as individuals in this community and exercise care for ourselves and others. We need to be mindful of safety, so I encourage you to use the LIMOs or safety patrol escorts when traveling to and from campus events. We recognize that some students may choose to include alcohol in their celebration. Marquette does have a Good Samaritan Policy because the well being of our students is our priority, and we expect that students will, indeed, care for their peers first and foremost in medical emergency situations. The university has a number of resources available if you find a community member in need of help.

We also expect our students to help us uphold the standard of respecting the dignity of all individuals. This means intervening when you see another community member not being treated with respect or if that person is in a potentially harmful situation. Remember: We Are Marquette! Now is the time to showcase what that truly means. Make us proud.

Sincerely,

Dr. Xavier Cole
Vice President for Student Affairs

Student Leadership Awards

Student leadership awards

The Division of Student Affairs presents leadership awards annually to recognize student contributions to the mission and activities of the various student affairs areas. Students are nominated by staff from the division and throughout the university and are selected by a committee representing each of the student affairs departments and Campus Ministry. Awards are presented at a program held each year in April. Read more about the student leadership awards.
