Undergraduate students who plan to graduate must apply for graduation. The "Apply for Graduation" link is located in your Checkmarq account (under the "My Academics" tab). The online application deadline for May graduates and any summer and fall graduates who wish to participate in the May ceremony is January 30. Students who are graduating in August or December and do not plan on participating in the current May graduation activities can apply at a later date. Please see the undergraduate academic calendar at MU Central’s website for dates.
Before applying for graduation, please make sure that your anticipated graduation date is correct and that your major(s) and minor(s) are listed in checkmarq. If any of this information is incorrect, please contact the College Records Office in JH 120.

Tickets are required. Graduation participants each receive 4 tickets that must be picked up in person. There is no charge for College graduation tickets, though you will need to have a photo ID with you to pick up your tickets. You can pick up your tickets at the following times in Johnston Hall 120:

Due to major construction around the BMO Harris Bradley Center, parking near the arena will be limited. Please see the BMO Harris Bradley Center's website for current information on street closures and parking alternatives.
Enter MATC through the doors on State Street (located west of 6th Street). Immediately report to the check-in area located just down the hall from your entry doors in the back hallway behind Cooley Auditorium. Find the table for your major and the card with your name on it. KEEP THIS CARD WITH YOU until you give it to the announcer who’ll use it to read your name as you cross the stage to receive your diploma. MATC Floor Plan.
Find the gathering place for your major in either hallway 1 or hallway 2. Look for the banner for your major. Line-up lists are posted on the wall. The list shows the line up order. A column leader for each major will be at the head of the line followed by the graduates lined up in alphabetical order—ready for the processional at noon.
After your name is called and you cross the stage, you’ll be directed to the hallway behind the stage where you’ll sign a receipt card in exchange for your diploma. Then, you’ll return to the auditorium for the remainder of the ceremony entering, once again, through the main doors and returning to a seat in your section. August or December graduates who are participating in May, won't receive a diploma at this time, do not have a receipt card and will just head straight back to the auditorium.

Each graduate is photographed as they receive their diploma and a solo portrait is also taken after they exit the stage. Proofs will be sent to graduates and their families within 48 hours of the ceremony. Preregister your email address so you can receive your complimentary proofs quickly. Not necessarily. If you have completed all of your university/college requirements, you are a graduate and will receive your diploma at the graduation ceremony. If, however, you haven’t completed all requirements, you may still participate but won’t receive your actual diploma or be considered a graduate.
Yes. If anyone in your party requires special seating because of mobility, communication, vision or other disability-related needs, please call (414) 288-7702 to notify the college so the correct tickets can be issued. Wheelchairs or other prescriptive equipment are not provided by the university, college or venue.
Academic apparel is automatically ordered for each student who submitted an application for graduation. Apparel must be picked up in person at Alumni Memorial Union. See the University or College web sites for specific dates and times.
If you’re unable to pick up your apparel, be sure to send a representative to pick it up for you. Your representative will need to know your name, college, degree and height. No apparel will be distributed at the Bradley Center or any other location.

A professional photographer will take individual pictures of the graduates as they receive their diplomas on stage. A second photo will be taken of each graduate just before he/she returns to the auditorium after crossing the stage.
May graduates must attend Commencement exercises. Permission to be absent may be requested only for serious reasons by writing to the dean of your college by May 1.
