Journalism and Digital Media Student Hannah Kirby Interviews Podcaster Terry McGuire

The work our journalism students are doing on suicide prevention has caught the attention of WSIN. During this months-long project, students wrote about how suicide has affected them and were interviewed about their work. In sharing their highly personal stories, they effectively raised awareness of college-age suicides and let their fellow students know that there are places to receive help for those struggling with suicidal thoughts. Their stories were shared in multiple forms of media, including articles in the Marquette Tribune, stories on campus TV stations, podcasts, and PSAs that aired on the radio and television.

Director of Student Media Mark Zoromski says the project “will all culminate in a live, televised town hall forum.” He adds, “I am so proud of our students!” For more, check out the WSIN story, “’Breaking the Silence:’ Journalism students launch effort to prevent college-age suicide.”
