Dr. April Harkins is a 1998 graduate from the CLS program at Marquette University and received her Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology in 2005 from the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Harkins teaches courses inClinical Immunoserology and Microbiology.Dr. Harkins’ research interestsincludestudies the pathogenic or disease-causing yeast and how they are able to form biofilms on medical devices with a focus on potential and novel anti-fungal targets. Dr. Harkins also is the director of the Biochemical and Immunological Core Laboratory. Dr. Harkinshas held many positions at the local, state and national level of the CLS professional society, American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS).
