Merry Christmas
Dear Marquette family and friends,
Christmas tree lighting ceremonies offer the opportunity to gather as a community with a spirit of hope as we await the celebration of Christ’s birth. Throughout Advent we prepare our hearts and minds for the greatest gift of all — Jesus Christ.
Few backdrops make such a scene more special than our beloved St. Joan of Arc Chapel. What a joy it is to come together in this sacred space as we look toward Christmas and the new year ahead. The beautiful Christmas tree serves as a light for all of us, and also is a reminder to be a light for others, especially the less fortunate.
As you watch our Marquette community enjoying this special moment on campus, please know how grateful I am to all of you — you make our great university a better place to learn, live, work and connect. My Christmas wish for you comes from St. Teresa of Calcutta:
“My prayer for you is that when Christ comes to you in Christmas, He may find in you a warm home, warm love like that of a heartful of love, like that of a simple shepherd who was the first one chosen to see Christ.”
From all of us at Marquette University, Merry Christmas! I wish you and your loved ones a blessed holiday season.
