Speed Interviews

If you are hiring for summer 2018 internship or full-time start dates, connect with actively seeking business students through Speed Interviews.  This event will be held on Friday, April 13th from 1:00-4:00 p.m. in the Marquette University Alumni Memorial Union.  Contact the Business Career Center at 414.288.7927 to reserve your interview booth! Employer RSVPs will be accepted through Thursday, March 29th or until the interview tables have filled.

Background: This speed interviewing program was launched in spring 2017 through the Center for Supply Chain Management.  This year, the Business Career Center is excited to expand the program to include employers recruiting across business majors.

How the program works: On April 13th, students and employers will connect for 30 minutes of open networking followed by 6 15-minute speed interviews.  Students will sign-up for interview times in advance through Handshake.  Interviews will be held at individual tables in a large meeting room within the MU Alumni Memorial Union.

Eligible Students: Undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in the College of Business Administration will be invited to participate.  College of Business Administration undergraduate majors and graduate programs are summarized here

Step 1 – Reserve a Table: If you would like to participate, please contact Karen Rinehart in the Business Career Center to reserve a maximum of 2 interview tables with a maximum of 2 staff per table.  Employers may interview for multiple positions at one table.  For example, if an employer posts 1 internship and 2 full-time opportunities, the 3 positions could be linked to the sign-up options for your table and students would indicate the position of interest as they sign-up for a speed interview time.

Step 2 – Post Opportunities to Handshake: With your table reservation confirmed, employers may post position descriptions to Handshake and request an “open” on-campus interview with an interview date of April 13th.  Open schedules enable employers to enter eligibility criteria (such as major, GPA, and graduation date).  With open schedules and this speed networking event, students who meet the criteria may sign-up for an interview time slot: employers will not pre-screen student resumes to make interview selections.

Step 3 – Participate in Speed Interviews on April 13th: The schedule for the day is below.  A voucher for complimentary parking in the visitor parking structures will be provided for each interviewer.

  • Employer Check-in: 1:00-1:30 p.m.
  • Networking: 1:30 – 2:00 p.m.
  • interview welcome & logistics: 2:00-2:05 p.m.
  • Interviews: 7, 15-minute interviews with 2 minutes for students to change tables: 2:05-3:52 p.m.
  • Thank you and next steps: 3:52-4:00 p.m.

Step 4 – Continue screening processes with great candidates: Employers are encouraged to schedule follow-up interviews as needed.  If you wish to return to Marquette for additional on-campus interviews, interview rooms are offered while classes are in session (through May 4th).

Priority for Active Hiring: The aim of this program is to connect seeking students with open opportunities.  If your organization fills your posted positions before the April 13th event, we request that you cancel your interview table by contacting the Business Career Center at 414.288.7927 or businesscareers@marquette.edu so we may offer the space to an employer that is actively hiring.
