Biomedical Sciences Student

The Department of Biomedical Sciences at Marquette University is a regional leader in neuroscience research.

In 2010, ten neuroscience research laboratories in the department received funding from the National Institutes of Health and other extramural sources to support the study of a broad range of neurological conditions, including schizophrenia, addiction, depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, obesity, and neurodegenerative diseases such as stroke, Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease.

The cutting edge pre-clinical research programs in the department have led to the establishment of two pharmaceutical companies founded by Biomedical Sciences faculty, highlighting the Department’s position as a hub for the translation of basic neuroscience findings into novel treatments.

When combined with the department’s longstanding reputation for excellence in pre-professional education in the health sciences and Marquette University’s outstanding liberal arts education in the Jesuit tradition, the neuroscience research culture in the biomedical sciences provides an unparalleled experience for undergraduate and graduate students.
