Refer to directive below from UPP 1-19 ("Security and Use of Smart Classrooms") to determine the designated "responsible party."
For card-swipe access smart classrooms, the faculty member and/or proctor who opens the classroom is considered to be the designated responsible party and is to manage the security of that classroom, to include:
if the proctor is not a faculty member, it is the responsibility of the faculty or the academic department of the faculty to arrange access to the smart classroom for the proctor (i.e., the Event Management Office has no ability to give temporary access to any party)
report any malfunctions immediately to the Classroom Support Office, 288-CLSS (288-2577)
ensure that the system is appropriately shut down at the end of each session
ensure that the doors are locked promptly at the end of each session.
For those smart classrooms that are not card-swipe enabled: the designated responsible party must:
meet the Department of Public Safety officer at the assigned room with a photo ID and a copy of the room confirmation
after verifying the responsible party, the Department of Public Safety officer will open the doors as needed
once the door is open, the same regulations as listed above apply
the Department of Public Safety will secure the classroom at the scheduled
end time of the event.
