John F. Ferraro, Bus Ad ’77
Ernst & Young is one of the largest professional services organizations in the world, providing assurance, tax, advisory and transaction services. As global chief operating officer, John Ferraro is part of a team of partners from around the world who work to execute the firm’s strategy and ensure its clients receive great service.
In addition to advising several major global clients, John sits on the board of directors of the Business Council for International Understanding. He has chaired the firm’s gender equity and ethnicity diversity task forces. He has called faraway cities home — cities like Rome and London, his current address.
Wherever he is, John pulls people together. “This is an exciting time in our world. The pace of change is unprecedented,” he says. “We need to ensure we are an inclusive and collaborative organization, and that we respond to challenges and opportunities in this dynamic business environment.”
A big job, to be sure, but John finds the energy because, he says quite simply, “I love my work. And I always have. I’m driven knowing that in working with my colleagues, we make a difference in the way we help each other, how we help our clients deliver on their promises to their markets and stakeholders, and how we help the communities in which we live to achieve their potential.”
And how did Marquette contribute to John’s success? Because no matter how exciting or complex life gets, he says, the values we choose to live by remain all-important. He believes in doing for others, that evil can be overcome by good, and that ego will fall in the face of generosity.
John is member of Marquette University’s Board of Trustees, sits on the board of Boston College High School, and is a member of the Columbus Citizen’s Foundation.
