
Vice Chair of the Marquette Board
Darren R. Jackson, Bus Ad ’86, was elected to the Marquette University Board of Trustees in 2004 and was elected vice chair in 2006.
He joined Advance Auto Parts as President and Chief Executive Officer on January 7, 2008. He had been a member of the Board of Directors since July 2004. Headquartered in Roanoke, Va., Advance Auto Parts, a leading automotive aftermarket retailer of parts, accessories, batteries, and maintenance items in the United States and serves both the do-it-yourself and professional installer markets. For 75 years, Advance Auto Parts has been a leader in the automotive aftermarket industry in parts availability, price, and customer service. Darren was previously executive vice president for consumer operating groups, responsible for the entertainment, personal computer mobility and home solutions operating groups of Best Buy, a Fortune 100 company.
He joined Best Buy in 2000 and served as chief financial officer from 2001 to 2007. Prior to joining Best Buy, he began his retail career with Carson Pirie Scott in Milwaukee, holding various executive positions, including chief financial officer. He then spent three years with Seattle-based Nordstrom Stores as vice president and chief financial officer.
Jackson has been recognized as one of the "most admired CFOs in America" by Institutional Investor Magazine, and CFO Magazine named him one of the top 20 young chief financial officers likely to shape the profession. He is on the board of directors of the Advance Auto Parts Company and the Cristo Rey Network.
In 2003, he received the Spirit of Marquette Award, which recognizes the accomplishments of an alumnus under 40. He is a member of the Marquette University President’s Council.
