Alfredo Gonzalez, DNP, ENP, C-SPI, has a background in toxicology and emergency medicine. As a board-certified family nurse practitioner with an active emergency room practice, he holds a master’s degree in emergency medicine and is a certified specialist in poison information, with more than 20 years of experience. His passion is helping communities address the opioid epidemic and assisting nurses to recognize ways to participate in the prevention of untimely opiate-related deaths. Dr. Gonzalez’s presentation will provide a brief history of opiates, an overview of his health care experiences within the current situation, a description of treatment approaches, and a discussion of how to move forward.
